We are seeking an Automation Specialist to join our Gexpro team in Irving, TX!


Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect, qualify, close automation related sales opportunities in various vertical markets
  • Analyze market conditions, develop an annual business plan and coordinate its implementation with the local technical, sales and management team
  • Define and grow new customers and markets for emerging automation product technologies
  • Identify customer needs, propose solutions and close orders for assigned automation products
  • Become subject matter expert in the assigned business segment
  • Develop deep and broad specific customer knowledge to be able to develop individualized business development plans
  • Assists sales staff and customers with product selection and questions
  • Provide product training support and expertise to both customers and other internal stakeholders



  • Working experience with automation hardware and software products. Preferred familiarity with GE/Emmerson Automation solutions
  • Ability to identify customer needs, propose solutions and close orders 
  • Able to identify and affect customer internal support processes which affect purchasing decisions
  • Ability to promote the value-add of the assigned products in competitive situations
  • Effective listening, communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills
  • Ability to transform product and service sales opportunities into system sales opportunities when appropriate
  • Strong arbitration skills to effectively listen, communicate and gain consensus
  • Leadership Skills
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training workshops and technical sales seminars
  • Ability to work with Project managers, the Operations teams and Inside/Outside Salesforce 
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with vendors


  • A four-year engineering or technical degree or appropriate experience, Electrical preferred, Mechanical accepted
  • Ability to identify and demonstrate technology solutions for customer applications
  • Valid driver's license for Region of business operation with a good driving record
  • Previous experience with customer service
  • Excellent communication skills/phone etiquette
  • Ability to multi-task
