We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Rexel USA team in Dallas, TX!



The Senior BigQuery Data Engineer is responsible for gathering and translating business and service requirements into queries, models and tools to allow for insightful data analysis and forecasting. This role is key team member of Rexel’s Global Digital & Data Factory that will collaborate with various users to develop and interpret reports, create complex data queries, reconcile data from sources, develop ad-hoc queries to augment/pilot new reports and perform data cleansing and auditing to identify idiosyncrasies and ensure data integrity. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Partner with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand data and reporting requirements
  • Be accountable for the web shop tagging requests and solution the design for the end-to-end tracking of data points from web shop to data platform
  • Work closely with the Data Analytics, web shop development and Data platform teams to analyze data, using different technologies, considering multichannel and different devices approach
  • Deliver optimized queries to extract data to digital data solutions. Perform SQL and ETL tuning as necessary
  • Develop Data Quality checks for source and target data sets. Develop UAT plans and conduct QA
  • Aggregate data from several databases and export data into various formats. If needed automate data aggregation and exports
  • Conduct exploratory analysis with various datasets to uncover actionable insights to drive strategy and decision making and communicate these findings with key stakeholders
  • Data Visualization: Build and present reports on analyzed data and support users to build reports when needed.
  • Help in the implementation of KPI tracking for the business using Google analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Monitor key KPI’s across the company and build analysis to explain any deviations from expected thresholds
  • Contribute to a DevSecOps working culture
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data management & analytics, information systems, data science, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role – preferably in an internal/global eCommerce environment
  • Experience of web, digital & data analytics
  • Expérience in BigQuery, data pipelining Advanced SQL
  • Experience with Google Analytics and google tag manager
  • Experience in Power BI or other data visualization tools


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Analytics Canvas skills are nice to have
  • R, Tableau and Python knowledge are a plus but not necessary
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast paced, global & international environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural group and matrix organization
