Network Engineer

We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our Network & security division

As our Network Engineer, you will join an established team of 3  to support, maintain and upgrade the company Network and IT Security Platforms . You will configure network equipment (including but not limited to switches, firewalls, routers, IOT equipment and access points) for remote deployment and management, maintaining the cloud networks and portals for internet access.

Reporting directly to the Network & Security Principal , our Network Engineer will work at a team to look after looking a large number of branch locations throughout the UK and Ireland, engage with colleagues and suppliers, Get involved with projects as well as covering tickets assigned from our Service Desk.

 

Occasionally you may need to visit sites across the UK to deploy / troubleshoot networking equipment.

Network Engineer – Key accountabilities:

  • Accountability for service provision of all network links to all locations for Rexel UK and Ireland.
  • Day-to-day performance & security analysis across the entire network.
  • Use network management systems software and appropriate analysis equipment to collect routine network load statistics, model performance, and create reports, including proposals for improvement. Including utilizing tools for problem management and BAU.
  • Manage network alerting and reporting tools ensuring they are kept up to date as the network architecture changes.
  • Liaise at a technical level with suppliers of applications and infrastructure teams.
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for network support and operation. Makes a significant contribution to the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of network problems.
  • Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures.
  • Manage third party service provider incident management tickets including escalations.
  • Project management skills to meet network & security requirements for branch relocations / new sites / closures.
  • Assists in producing outline system designs and specifications covering objectives, scope, features, facilities, management, reliability, resilience, security, constraints (such as performance, resources and cost), hardware, network and software environments
  • Able to undertake other duties commensurate with the role and with appropriate training.
  • Awareness of Cloud networking technologies e.g. Microsoft Azure.
